I have not had any good emails to add to my "Chicken Little" file lately, so I need some of you to send some out....seeding the clouds, so to speak. I know, I know, its from 1944, but the Cons have been lacking creativity lately, so let's try some reruns.
Cut and paste this and email to all the frightened conservatives you know:
Norman Thomas, who ran for President (6 times?!?) as a Socialist, said this in 1944: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." He went on to say: "I no longer need to run as a Presidential Candidate for the Socialist Party. The Democratic Party has adopted our platform."
God I love the smell of Socialism in the morning. It smells like....WTF is that smell? You think it will wash out?
Thanks, I remain Moderately Semi-Compassionately Conservative, but not Too Conservative or Too Compassionate and definitely not Compassionately Conservative or Pinko Left Wing Liberal, but Somewhere in that great Undefined Grey Area known as Proud to be an American, but not so proud as to appear smug, Liberally Conservative Omar
Giving Jesus Freaky Conservatives Something to Wail About Since 1974!
PS can someone hurry up with the socialism? whatever we got now is broke. and getting broker. sounds like the banks is getting ready to go belly up. I blame the Russians. I'd blame Scott, but he'd just go all puppy dog face with tears and try to make me feel bad.

.
Sounds like the Ninth Circuit.
Incidently, after the '74 debacle, we got Reagan.
One of the primary precepts of Socialism is that our new Reverends (Elected or on the Bench or appointed as Administrators) form a religion of 'Man Worshipping Himself'. These new religious leaders are, clearly and profoundly, smarter than us stupid people - they know whats best. I wonder which words will be deemed 'upsetting' and removed from the dictionary today - one must conform to the new Religion's 'Word Correctness'. Too bad for them about gun control.
We tried idiotic Socialism tendencies in the 30s, 60s ......... it didn't work. Absent Adolph, FDR doesn't get re-elected and the Great Society just caused subtle misery for millions. It only works in uniform societies where people are all the same (pick two: brand/tribe/color/religion/etc.). Even Sweeden has reversed course in many areas.
What we have now is a housing bubble that the Democrat Congress failed to oversee. Socialists, being smarter than us, will make that Democrat oversight even better than previously ........... how's that Countrywide sweetheart loan going Senator Dodd?
Scott (Newt Fan Club member - Gold Card Member, I should say.)
P.S. No pulling Scott's chain.

The new 'Stimulous Works Package"? I'm thinking of becoming a Democrat and forming a construction company. Good money in that, not much heavy lifting. Also, I'm worried that Forensic Accountants may start to go missing, even ex ones ................. yes, I think I should a Party member, safer you know.
Cement Worker Scott
P.S. I could join the breakaway Alaskan Republic instead. I wonder what Moose tastes like.

So if socialism doesn't work....why do people get so excited about it. It's all I hear about these days. Maybe it is a good smoke screen to hide bank failures and corporate misdeeds behind. More chicken little shit is what I think.
On the ligher side, Ron Paul came out in favor of repealing Prohibition*. He said it was a waste of money to keep enforcing laws that were unenforceable. He also said he didn't really care about taxing the product. He said people should be allowed to do what they want to as long as it does not harm other people. He said the money now being spent on enforcement should be spent on education, prevention and rehabilitation.
*The Prohibition on possession, cultivation or sale of marijuana.

Well Ron Paul is one of the more enlightened men in our government today. A true Constitutionalist if one ever existed. He ran with the Libertarian Party for a long time before realizing that if he were to have even a small chance of becoming Prez, he would have to join one of the 'Big Two.'
I voted for him in November...

The Wayback Machine is activated and we land in 1972 and....a lid (3/4 oz) of mexican green was $15 or $90/lb. That was headache weed. There was also Michoacan (extra seedy, but good) and Panama Red for about $20/lid. Then in '75 my boys made some contacts in Southernmost America and base Columbo was retailing for about $25 a Z (oz) or $350/lb. In '76 the boys got a better connect and I could get 10lbs of Columbian West Slope Gold for $2500. Street on that was $35-$40 a Z. That would knock you down for the count. Then the boys went truly international and Thai Stick was available for $15 a stick. Blaze up a matchhead o' that at about 9PM and it would render you senseless for about an hour and you would still be high on the way to school next day. I could listen to all of Little Feat's "Feats Don't Fail Me Now" or Pure Prairie League's "Busting Out" before coherent thought was possible again. Wasted Youth indeed. Now hash....seems like it ranged from $4 to $12 a gram depending on if it was Afghani or Morrocan or Lebanese. Not as common but lbs were available for the connoisseur. Good times! I remember bales of pot coming wrapped in cardboard boxes used for shipping Marlboros to South 'Merka (recycling?) Sometimes the bales came in burlap. After watching "The Union" I can tell you that the Columbians didn't employ "clippers"...they shipped the whole top half of the plant....
Oh yea, after Columbo hit around here, you couldn't GIVE mexican away....
I had friends who drove all the way to Illinois to pick "ditch weed" during the Great Pot Drought of '73. It had escaped from a federal hemp farm and was growing wild along the roads. You could smoke a lot of that stuff with hardly any effect at all. I think it was intended to be used as rope.
And all the while Unky Sam thought he was winning "The War". But this ain't no war....cause wars end....
