So I'm going to revive the beast (my old computer).
I need a new PSU and more importantly GPU though.
Is my old CPU the Core 2 Quad Q9550 super outdatated to the point I can't get a cool Radeon 7950 type of card or am I talking that crazy talk?
Hopefully I can this shit done in time for COD (oops) or the new BF4.
P.S WHEN / DO YOU OLD FACES EVER COME ON TS? Fuckin A.

I would think it would easily run it but you are using pci 2.0 with that new intended video card. So, it may be much more than useful and something cheaper would do. bf4central.com/battlefield-4-system-requirements/ read comments After reading that, you may want at least a cheap upgrade of a $200 MB, CPU, Mem (unless you have ddr3 already) with Pci 3.0 [NEWEGG daily deal]. I'd try your existing rig with a vid card you buy. If it doesn't work, upgrade the rest of the system or return the vid card and play COD4. Hell, Cartman's playing Halo with CV ......... As for TS, no one has expressed an interest in BF4 (Mace did a while back) but would if we had a group ...... if you upgrade, I'll send a general e-mail to our massive registration list at our proboards site. Further, just post, in advance, when you will make your humble re-appearance. You should note 1)Red Sox #1 (temporary band wagon) and 2) the Ravens and Giants both suck. That is all.

A 7950 with a Q9550 will work just fine. The card is strong, but not strong enough to bottleneck the CPU, in other words you'll achieve a good balance - which is what you want.
A standard 450W-500W PSU will do fine.
If you don't have a budget, just build a new rig. The new CPU's are much more powerful, and way more efficient.
Shady and I play a lot of Tribes:Ascend, but we'll will play the new COD:Ghosts if we have people to play with.
BF4 is cool, but it's a pretty demanding game, unlike COD.

That CPU will bottleneck. I speak from experience Gamble. I don't know if you remember we both got the same processors around the same time. Well about two months ago i finally had to upgrade because I was having bad lag in game. I upgraded to an I7 4770 and it was like night and day. That shit is beast mode now. I am still running my GTX570 overclocked. You can get away with an I5 and save yourself about $100 on the CPU. I will probably play some COD this weekend.
PS. Shady sucks big black dick.

Alright thanks Mesk. I think I'm going to just buy the video card right now on Newegg and see how it runs with the CPU and my current RAM situation (DDR2 4GB). If it sucks, and it might then I guess I'll have to throw down for a new MOBO, CPU, and RAM. But I really REALLY don't want to do that right now because I don't have the money. Hopefully I can get away with just a video card upgrade and then upgrade later on.

Alternatively I guess I could also just OC my CPU You can but it wont be that noticable of a difference and you need some good cooling. I had mine overclocked by alot and never ran into problems with it overheating or anything. It just got too old and couldn't handle the load anymore. Those core 2 quads are like 5 years old already. If you do need to get new shit, like I said an i5 would be enough to do the job. Just make sure it's the newer model i5.
