Can everyone (still looking here) chime in on who's using what and how the games are. I want to know if I should buy 1 or 2 games and who's going to be playing them. G_d save the Queen.

Shady says he likes COD:Ghosts.
I don't like it. You can't check your ping, can't change your FOV, and can't check your FPS. I find the game poorly optimized. No console feature either.
I'll give it another week to form a final opinion on it though.

What's the interface? XBox type?

It's a direct console port, and yeah, the interface looks exactly like a mirror of the Xbox. The maps are very poorly optimized for the PC. Black Ops 2 ran well, but this game (Ghosts) runs so poorly. As of now, I regret buying it.
If within a week I still don't like this game, I'm gonna buy BF4 and try that out.

That's pretty disappointing to hear. For however much grief we gave it at the time, I'd kill to go back to COD4 or even MW2.

Yep. CoD4 was a well built game, more advanced for its time than today's games. The truth is, these developers have all but neglected PC gaming, all the money today comes from consoles.

Seriously the game just came out yesturday... It's gonna have problems just like BF4, halo, world of warcraft or any other game for that matter... The only thing I can advise scott is to get it and form your own opinion and keep in mind that they will patch whatever issues there are. I can guarantee you BF4 is buggy as hell too. Not sure if you remember but almost every BF game has been buggy as hell. Do you remember how bad 2142 was? Anyway I will have them both, as they are both great games but have very different gameplay.

Anyway I will have them both, as they are both great games but have very different gameplay. Gonna quote for truth. Battlefield and call of duty games always have problems at launch. MMOs always have problems with maintanences. Just the way it goes. Been playing BF4 with hiko, awesome game, had a lot of stability issues but mostly ironed out within the first week. Didn't get ghosts but I watched a bit of it on stream. His FOV was definitely changed, quick google brought up a community made app that lets you change it. Havent really seen any performance issues either, seems fairly solid. Maps are kindve big comparative to past iterations but I've seen some that caught my eye. Guns all seem fairly well balanced, especially compared to MW3 and Black ops 2. Soldier customization, new unlock system and the prestige system are also really nice additions.

I'll start with COD first and then BF4. liar Oh well, March 11th. Titanfall looks to be one of the best shooters of 2014, if not best in a long while. Being made by the people who worked on Call of DUty 4. Has the smooth call of duty gameplay but a lot of characteristics of Halo when it comes to skill-ceiling and playmaking ability. (Jetpacks, mech strafing, wall jumping)

Get BF4 and come listen to my beautiful voice some more Also this is quite interesting! Halo 5 PC? Microsoft's support for PC gaming -- particularly its first-party development efforts -- has been inconsistent over the years, but the company is once again planning to make its presence known on the platform, according to Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer. After admitting to Shacknews that the company's level of support for the platform has waned, Spencer described Windows as now being "incredibly important." He pointed to the 'One Microsoft' initiative -- the outcome of the company's extensive realignment earlier this year -- as being part of the reason for Microsoft seeking to avoid being hyper focused on consoles at the expense of its other platforms. What that means is more PC games coming from Microsoft; in fact, Spencer claims that, right now, there are "more individual projects on Windows than we've had in ten years at Microsoft Studios."

My Thots on Ghosties:
Seems to be primarily a "light your hair on fire then run and gun game". I tend to play a conservative ratio game, so it SOKAY. Snipers are still "shoot in the general direction for a kill". GUI sucks, maps not bad, access to stats suck. You better have a damn good set of headphones. I may find a pair of "real" 5.1/7.1's
I switched to a 120HZ monitor so I could uncap my VCard and it do make a difference. Having played against a number of $5K computer kiddies, I am now contemplating breaking my 5 gallon jar of quarters and heading off to NewEgg to build a powerbox (crazy stupid power, SSD's 32 GB etc)...strictly gaming no extraneous leech apps. As I near 60 middle age, I find myself slightly offended to get out-reflexed merely on the basis of CPU speed. "I'll show them whippersnappers". And then just to piss them off, I will post a mininum requirement computer spec on my Steam page....
Can ONE of these fucking game designers get the damn thing right?
PS, the Steam website launch of Ghosties was only slightly better than the Obamacare website launch. Preloaded the game a couple of days early....only to have to reload it after release. GG, Steam!
PS, if anyone reads can even find my Steam profile, its all mostly bullshit to fuck with the kiddies. Psyops indeed.
Have a couple of free nights, might head over to Wally World and pickup a copy of BFuckme4
PS. I enjoy AntiChamber. A nice change from bang bang your dead.

Omar touched on something, that I forgot to mention earlier in this thread. You're gonna need a next-gen PC to play these new games optimally.
My GTX 580 (1.5GB ram), paired with a 2600K, 16GB ram, 256SSD, which was a powerhouse card in its day, is now simply much more inferior compared to these new 700 series cards, and their 2GB+ ram. Although you cannot check FPS in CoD:Ghosts, my 580 is definitely not pumping the 120FPS I need for my 120Hz monitor, certain maps are just unbearable to play. I'm sure BF4 is the same. I'm contemplating if I want to blow money on a new card.
Omar, you should go all out and buy a GTX Titan card, at $1019.

I played BF4 with mace some on sunday. Had zero lag. The game did crash once but I kind of expect that to happen, it happened in BF3 alot too. Not sure whats with EA games crashing. I have less of a video card than police and dont have problems with lag. Specs are below.
Core i7 4770 @ 3.9ghz GTX 570 Overclocked. 2 X WD Caviar Black 1Tb in Raid0 750 Watt PSU

BF4 runs smooth, zero complaints, Ghosts on the other hand, takes big dips, especially on certain maps. However, with that said, in BF4, I jump anywhere from 130fps down to 70fps (on high settings; I can't see properly with low texture, my eyes are bad). My 580 is fine only if I want to play at 60fps (60Hz refresh rate), but last month I bought a 120Hz monitor (Asus 144Hz), and my 580 just can't keep a constant 120fps to match my refresh rate, 120Hz. You want a constant frame rate, otherwise you'll get frame lag if your FPS is jumping all over the place. These new games recommend that you have a GPU with 2GB plus, especially for playing on higher resolutions and refresh rates. I just don't know whether it's worth buying a new card now, or wait until march and invest then. Titanfall, is supposedly the next Halo. I guess we'll have to wait and see if it lives up to the hype. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YEJEFJkq6ILooks like a modern 2142, even has the battlewalkers. Mesk, you should come play with us tonight.

I'm bidding now (EBay) for another EVGA 460 1MB to SLI (giving me 2 MB of GDDR5 on a 256 interface or is it 512?). I'm doing the same (EBay) to double my memory from 6 to 12 GB. Once I get those two, I'll choose an SSD and hope that that is enough for two years. After that, it's a new computer. Also, I'm considering overclocking my i7 920 CPU.
Major surgery is in order.
